Certified ✓ Pediatric Nursing Certification Board

I strive to approach each child and family where they are at. Using each patient’s strengths in order to address their individual needs is something I strive to do. My opinion on care is that it is a partnership between myself, the patient and their support system, so allowing kids to participate as much as possible in their ongoing management is a priority.

About Amanda

Born and raised in Milwaukie, Oregon, and a former patient of Dr. Rupa Shah, Amanda Ankeny has been a part of Oregon Pediatrics since birth. From an early age she knew that she wanted to work with kids in the healthcare setting. She graduated from George Fox University with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular biology, with a minor in Sociology, before moving to North Carolina to attend Duke University’s Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. Upon moving back to Oregon, she worked as a Registered Nurse at Providence Center for Medically Fragile Children, which has provided a unique skill set and love for caring for our most medically complex children. She uses these experiences as provider overseeing our clinics’ care management team.

Her Master of Science in Nursing was completed through Duke University School of Nursing, with her final clinical rotation completed with Dr. Rupa Shah at Oregon Pediatrics.

Amanda has a special love for taking care of children and families who experience disability and chronic illness, including mental health and physical needs. She is certified as a Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. The strength, courage and ability that kids show us is one of her favorite things to acknowledge when meeting these families. She strives to meet kids and caregivers where they are at and approach their care from there.

Fun Facts

My favorite food is almost anything that mixes sweet and salty

Loves the outdoors

Favorite childhood memory…

Playing in the cul-de-sac with all of the neighbor kids- kickball, swimming, exploring the forest, riding bikes, creating chalk drawn cities, movie marathons and creating our own bands!

About my family

I am single and don't have any children, but I do have two cats! I spend a lot of time being auntie to my biological niece and nephews and many of my friends' kids. I grew up in Milwaukie, which has allowed for many long term connections throughout the community.

In my spare time…

I enjoy spending time with friends and family. Outside of work a lot of my time is spent reading, doing puzzles, building legos, exercising and watching baking shows. I also help with children's ministries at my church and have recently ventured into coaching my nieces micro soccer team!

A question I wish I was asked more…

What can I do to take good care of my mind and body?
