My intervention style is eclectic, though it is significantly based in cognitive-behavioral concepts, guiding adults and children alike to understand the connection between their experiences and the resulting thoughts, emotions, and choices in behavior.

About Adam

I am a licensed clinical social worker in the State of Oregon, previously in Pennsylvania and New York, and have been in social work practice overall for more than 20 years. Originally from New York City, I received both my undergraduate and graduate social work education and degrees from New York University. I have worked with children, adolescents, and families throughout my career, initially in foster care services and then with the New York CICM (Children's Intensive Case Management, a form of wraparound services), ultimately in direct therapeutic practice. In family, cultural, and social systems, oftentimes spoken and unspoken messages are delivered that can lead to apprehension around being more forthright, beliefs created that may be inaccurate and which impede the ability for someone to recognize and assert their needs. Through exploration of these connections between experience and choices, therapy can highlight where and when those messages were received and to help the individual discover their voice, to re-experience themselves as more insightful, conscientious, intentional, and most importantly empowered.

Favorite Childhood Memory…

I was probably no more than 2 years old. I was down the block from my house in Brooklyn, NY, and a neighbor's big, lumbering, shaggy dog came along and pounced on me, knocking me off my Big Wheels. Then my mother arrived screaming and upset, but meanwhile I was laughing up a storm.

I love cold sesame noodles!!

In my spare time…

I enjoy spending time with my partner, volunteering with cat rescue and adoption, gardening, restaurants and global cuisines, going on hikes and long drives, exploring nature, historic architecture, travel, and visiting unusual places that are off the beaten path.
